What is it?

Cupping is a therapy that uses a decompression force (like a vacuum suction) to decompress the soft tissues. When it lifts the dermal layer, it separates the fascia below, creating relief. Because fascia communicates so much with the brain, there is also a neurological response.

Benefits

  • Improves awareness
  • Improves control
  • Improves movement and range of motion
  • Relieves pain
  • Releases fascial adhesions
  • Remodels scar tissue
  • Improves circulation, blood flow, and lymph circulation

Diagram of skin, fascia, and muscle. Without tape, inflamed muscle compresses blood vessels, lymph vessels, and pain receptors. With tape lifting the skin, the layers decompress and the vessels and pain receptors open up.
This diagram is shown with tape, but the same ideas apply to cupping.
